British Properties
Brothers Creek Trail
This trail is located at the top of the British Properties. The land is owned by them but they allow hiking on the trails. There are many trails in this area some of which connect with the Baden-Powell trail. The main trails are well maintained but there are also smaller marked trails that are less traveled.
Mom Grouse just off the trail |
The first time we came out here the weather was nice. We checked out the old remains left over from logging the area. We took one of the smaller paths which was very nice and gave the feeling of a little more adventure. Later we connected back with the larger trail and followed it back to our car. On the way back we saw a Grouse and a few of its chicks. The grouse was very protective puffing out its tail and showing us its red neck until the chicks escaped.
Bridge before lost lake |
We recently returned and hiked the trail again. This time before crossing the bridge we stayed to the right and continued to Lost Lake. We couldn't really see the lake due to the snow it just looked like a white field, but it was a nice place to set up the stove for lunch. After a quick lunch we continued on and back to the car. Even in the snow it was only around 2.5-3 hour return trip.
Over all this is a nice trail for day hikes. It is not difficult but it is an interesting trail. There seem to be many options for hikes that need more exploring. We will definitely be back to look around some more.
