Back Again

October 2011

Somewhere in the Fraser Valley

We had to return here, we had such a great time the last time.

At the first opportunity we loaded the canoe and headed out for the day.  The lake here is very beautiful but we enjoyed paddling the streams much more.  On one of them we found this beaver dam. We were amazed at the amount of pressure a dam like this holds back.  Again we found many different animal prints along the sandy shores.

We woke up to this on our first morning, the start of a beautiful day.  Our tent was warm but we were hit by the cold when we opened the door.

Even with all the dead salmon we did not have any sightings of bears or wolves, though we saw many tracks. It is interesting what these fish struggle with so they can reproduce.  Salmon definitely have an interesting life cycle.  It was almost heartbreaking to see so many lining the shores.  But they accomplished their goal completing their cycle and becoming food for others.

Here is another video we made after the trip.  More scenery, prints, and salmon encounters
