August 2011

Eagle Bluffs

The trail dips and climbs but never to the same extent as the beginning.  You definitely want to make it out on a clear day. At the bluffs you can look down on the eagles and see the horizon disappear in front of you.

August 2011

After you cross into the Widgeon Slough you can follow the main stream to the camp site.  We found there are some small signs on the banks to direct you.  The water levels between July and August were drastically different.  In July there was a lot of run off so the water levels were very high and fast moving.

Buntzen Lake

The last time we were here we showed up early and waited for the gate to open.  Fished for a couple hours while paddling around the lake.  Cooked lunch in the picnic area and left around 2PM

British Properties
Brothers Creek Trail

This trail is located at the top of the British Properties.  The land is owned by them but they allow hiking on the trails.  There are many trails in this area some of which connect with the Baden-Powell trail.  The main trails are well maintained but there are also smaller marked trails that are less traveled.

Golden Ears Provincial Park

The campground is usually very populated with local campers, families, music, trucks and RVs.  Their sites are all drive in, they have built in fire rings, picnic tables and some have tent platforms.  There is year round camping and fees are always in effect.

Road Trip West Coast USA

We decide on a bit of a whim to do a huge road trip all down the coast of the US.   Our plan was to drive from our house , in Burnaby, to Portland then over to the 101 highway all the way down to San Francisco then LA then Las Vegas then back.   It was an adventure

Jamaica

My family had all planned to go to Morocco but thanks to some amazingly brutal snow storms in England we last minute changed to Jamaica.   The island was a typical tropical paradise.

Hello and welcome,

This is our fist blog.  We have been really enjoying the natural beauty of BC and thought it would be nice to share our experiences with other people.    We found it difficult to find good information on trails and campgrounds.  After lots of searching we were able to find some blogs that were really helpful so we decided to pass on some of our information and experiences to others.  Many of the posts will be of BC and especially the lower mainland but some will be of other places in the world.  We will start with Christmas 2010 and move toward the present.

Thanks for looking,

Wade and Alden
